The “Magalhães Hostel” name was inspired by the portuguese explorer, from Ponte da Barca, Fernão Magalhães, who became a historical celebrity due to his expedition, in which he completed the first circumnavegation of the earth, in the XVI century.

“Magalhães Hostel” is in the center of the medieval town of Ponte da Barca, one of the most picturesque towns in the north of Portugal. The municipality stands right in the heart of the “Parque Nacional da Peneda-Gerês” - recognized by UNESCO as World Network of Biosphere Reserve.

There are a lot of reasons to visit Ponte da Barca. From the green landscape to the mountains and rivers, from the friendly people and their heritage to the fabulous gastronomy, where you can, also, enjoy a large number of leisure and sport activities.

Open since July 2012, “Magalhães Hostel” is managed by people passionate about travelling. For that reason, they know exactly what travellers are searching for.

We invite you for a pleasant time, in a relaxed and intimate atmosphere, at “Magalhães Hostel”.
